Accelerating dual-use technology for defence, security, and maritime awareness

Hefring has been selected for the NATO DIANA (Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic) Challenge Programme 2026, one of just 15 companies in the maritime domain, chosen from more than 3,600 applicants worldwide.

The program supports cutting-edge dual-use technologies addressing critical defense and security challenges across the Alliance. Hefring's selection highlights a growing reality: maritime situational awareness remains one of the most urgent challenges facing coastal nations today.

Increasingly complex maritime environments, rising security demands, and limited visibility across vast ocean areas are making it harder than ever to understand what is happening at sea without significantly increasing cost and operational burden.

ODIN delivers a persistent, cost-effective approach to maritime ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance), reducing reliance on expensive, asset-heavy operations while improving coverage and insight.

By enhancing how maritime information is gathered, interpreted, and acted upon, ODIN enables: better detection of maritime activity, increased operational awareness, faster and more informed decision-making, and stronger national and alliance-level security.

Built for Modern Maritime Reality

ODIN represents a new approach to maritime surveillance: clearer, smarter, and more actionable awareness at sea. As part of NATO DIANA, it is recognized as a dual-use technology, with applications extending beyond defense into maritime safety, environmental monitoring, and search and rescue.

Looking Ahead

Selection into the NATO DIANA Challenge Programme marks the start of the next phase for ODIN. We are scaling a solution designed to deliver persistent maritime awareness at lower cost, bringing clarity to the world's most complex maritime environments while supporting both security and safety across the global maritime domain.
