Hefring Marine

Last week we ran trials of the Hefring Intelligent Marine Assistance System (IMAS) outside of the KNRM head office in IJmuiden in the Netherlands.
The trials were conducted on board the new KNRM's new 'Riet en Jan van Wijk' vessel. We would like to thank everyone who attended and in particular to extend our sincerest gratitude to the KNRM for their support by making their vessel, a world-class skipper and their facilities available to us for the trials.
Responses were very positive, with a lot of interest and great feedback from all who attended. The IMAS system demonstrated that it tackled situations very similarly to that of our very capable captain, suggesting similar speeds those maintained by him. On the flipside, for guest who were less experienced as operators, having the system there to help them make the right decision was a great comfort, sometimes recommending a higher speed than they might otherwise have maintained where it judged it to be safe.
