TM Insurance provides the Icelandic Search and Rescue association with Hefring Marine's solution, IMAS.

In a notable advancement for maritime safety, TM has generously provided the Icelandic Search and Rescue association, Landsbjörg, with an innovative navigation system known as IMAS. Developed by the Icelandic tech start-up Hefring Marine, this system is now a key component of the rescue vessel Þór, marking the beginning of a new era for Landsbjörg's fleet, with its home port in the Westman Islands.

Örn Smárason, a project manager at Landsbjörg, shared their engagement in the system's development and its crucial role in training. He highlighted the need for thorough training for their crew, given the new vessels' high-speed capabilities, which are substantially higher than their predecessors. The Hefring Marine system's real-time risk assessment features are particularly vital for managing the perils of high-speed navigation and ensuring the safety and efficiency of both the crew and the vessel.

Methúsalem Hilmarsson from TM spoke about the company's involvement and support from the very inception of the Hefring Marine system. He emphasized the uniqueness of the system on a global scale and expressed satisfaction in aiding the commendable work of Landsbjörg through supporting such innovative technologies.

Karl Birgir Björnsson, CEO of Hefring Marine, noted the widespread adoption of Hefring Marine among high-speed maritime operators worldwide, including Norwegian and Swedish maritime rescue services. He underscored the system's initial objective to enhance maritime safety and its effectiveness in reducing human error-related accidents at sea. He also pointed out the recent advancements in the system, where AI analytics optimize navigation to significantly reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions, highlighting the system's contribution to operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.

In their collective efforts, these organizations emphasize the importance of innovation, safety, and efficiency in maritime operations, heralding a new chapter in search and rescue services with the integration of the Hefring Marine system.
